The Colorful World of Unchale Khakkana

Meet Unchale Khakkana, a colorful creative based in Bangkok. Seeking inspiration while navigating the sunny streets of her city and nearby nature by bike, Unchale translates her adventures into illustrations, centering around a self-titled character drawn from everyday experiences. To learn more about Unchale’s world, we sat down for a short interview, which you can read in full below.

Can you introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Unchale. I work in art and design, especially focused on cycling and running clothing. I have a small brand that I created by myself called UNCHALE Store.

My work shows a young girl character with a warm smile. She represents honesty, simplicity, and being close to nature.

As a designer, how does cycling influence your artwork?

My designs come from my feelings and what I want to share. I love looking at the sky and the colors of sunlight on nature. Being in nature makes me feel free, and the sky looks different every day.

When I go cycling and see the view around me, I feel relaxed and happy staying with myself. After riding, I often use those good feelings as ideas for my drawings. I share these feelings with others through my artwork and characters.

How does your local environment inspire your work?

People, feelings, and the environment in Thailand inspire my work a lot. Cycling in Thailand, especially in the city, requires good skills, just like cycling in other countries.

Sometimes I meet very kind people, even strangers. But sometimes I also meet people who are not kind to cyclists. These experiences teach me not only how to ride better but also how to control my emotions.

How would you describe your cycling experience and the scene in Bangkok?

I started cycling eight years ago. Over time, my experiences became a short-haired girl character with symbols like a cycling helmet or sunglasses. She always has a smile and feels honest and friendly. This character is UNCHALE, and she comes from my real life.

The cycling community in Thailand is very open and diverse. People have different styles, but we can still ride together. We share stories, talk, drink coffee, take photos, and enjoy our time.

Any advice for others exploring the busy city by bike?

Yes. If you want to see kindness and enjoy cycling culture, Thailand is very welcoming.

And please don’t forget to say hello to me. I would love to share my experiences with you.

I believe that cycling in Thailand will give you a true Amazing Thailand experience.
